01 Candidates Submit Their Recruiting Results
Users can anonymously report milestones from their own recruiting experience.
A submission may include information such as:
- Firm
- Role
- Recruiting cycle
- Office
- Application date
- Assessment activity
- Interview invitations
- Final-round activity
- Offer or rejection
- Optional background information
Users should submit only information based on their own recruiting experience and should not submit confidential information belonging to an employer or another candidate.
02 Submissions Are Organized by Recruiting Stage
RecruitMap groups reported activity into stages so candidates can quickly understand how far a recruiting process appears to have progressed.
Application
A candidate has applied for the role.
Assessment
A candidate reports receiving or completing a pre-interview assessment or similar screening step.
Not every firm, role, or candidate will necessarily have an assessment stage.
First Round / R1
A candidate reports receiving an invitation to the first formal interview round.
If RecruitMap shows “R1 out,” it means at least one candidate has reported receiving a first-round invitation for that recruiting cycle. It does not necessarily mean that all first-round invitations have been sent.
Final Round
A candidate reports being invited to the final interview stage.
Firms may use different names or structures for their interview rounds, so RecruitMap groups comparable late-stage interviews together when appropriate.
Offer
A candidate reports receiving an offer.
An offer appearing on RecruitMap does not necessarily mean that the recruiting cycle is complete or that additional offers will not be made.
Rejection
A candidate reports being informed that they are no longer moving forward in the process.
Rejections may occur at different stages of the recruiting process.
03 RecruitMap Aggregates the Data
Individual submissions are combined to show broader recruiting activity.
Rather than relying on a single report, users can look at the number and timing of submissions to better understand what may be happening across a recruiting cycle.
As more candidates contribute, the tracker can provide a more useful picture of when recruiting activity begins and how it progresses.
04 Understanding RecruitMap Statuses
Statuses such as “R1 out,” “Final rounds out,” or “Offers reported” indicate that RecruitMap has received at least one relevant candidate report.
They should not be interpreted as confirmation that a firm has completed that stage of recruiting.
For example, if RecruitMap displays “R1 out,” it means someone has reported receiving a first-round invitation. A firm may continue sending additional invitations afterward.
05 Limitations of the Data
RecruitMap relies on voluntary, self-reported submissions.
As a result:
- Reports may contain errors.
- Some recruiting activity may never be reported.
- A small number of submissions may not represent an entire applicant pool.
- Certain schools, offices, or candidate groups may be overrepresented.
- Firms may send decisions in multiple waves.
- Recruiting processes can differ by office, role, school, and candidate.
- Timing from previous recruiting cycles may not predict future cycles.
RecruitMap does not independently verify every submission and does not claim that the tracker represents a complete record of a firm's recruiting activity.
The strongest signal generally comes from patterns across multiple independent submissions rather than any single report.
06 Help Make the Tracker Better
RecruitMap becomes more useful as more candidates contribute.
If you've received an assessment, interview invitation, final-round invitation, offer, rejection, or other recruiting update, adding your result can help other candidates better understand the recruiting process.
Please submit only truthful information based on your own experience.
